Chips made $1 trillion in just 8 months

Global chip sales passed $1 trillion in the first eight months of 2026, an industry first.

Global semiconductor sales passed $1 trillion year-to-date through August 2026, an industry first. August alone reached $159.7B, up 144.3% from $65.4B a year earlier and 8% above July's $147.9B. It was the 18th consecutive month of growth, and SIA expects 2026 sales to exceed $1.6 trillion.
